A2Z Salvage is a family run business which was established in 1995, the company directorship is currently made up the sole Director Ahmed Patel, who is also assisted by his two sons ensuring succession of the business.

The company has grown from strength to strength in the Insurance Salvage field and after 23 years in business the company understands the requirements of Insurers and service providers alike.

The company currently operates an independent storage facility from their premises in Lenasia, and service all clients across Southern Africa.

After 23 years in the Insurance Salvage industry, A2Z has a vast amount of knowledge and understand the needs of clients ensuring maximum recovery for Insurers.

Storage

We have ample storage facilities of our own situated at our premises in Benoni.
On uplift of goods, each insurance claims salvage is packed into an allocated area, sorted and repacked by our staff, ensuring no further damages occur.
We have a fleet of vehicles available, though predominately use a 1-ton LDV for smaller loads, generating lower transport costs and increased savings which are passed onto Insurer’s.
For larger loads, we own a 10-ton truck with a dedicated driver and staff who uplift and load stock ensuring minimal interruption to Insureds operations.
For large loads, a horse and trailer is available and is also used for our national collections as required.
The premises is secured by way of concrete palisade topped with electric fenced. An alarm is located on site and monitored by a 24 hour armed response company that oversees the entire premises.
We also cater to storage requirements in Kwa Zulu Natal and the Western Cape and have facilities on call as required.

Salvaging & Repacking

We salvage a large range & variety of goods. If anything can be salvaged, we have the expertise to do so.
We specialize in salvaging groceries, fertilizers, chemicals, steel, clothing and most perishable and non-perishable goods.
Goods that we sell, are sold with the utmost of precaution.
We remove any branding as well as decant wherever necessary. In the event of Branded packaging or brands being decanted, we attend to same and the packaging can be returned to the company as required.
We are also aware of brand protection, and should goods be a proprietary brand we remove all evidence of same before disposal. Proof is provided on request, though records are kept of all de-branding jobs.
In some cases we are also asked to destroy certain goods, in which case we uplift the goods and take them to a reputable disposal site where the insured will be issued with a disposal certificate.
Our goods are not put on auction but sold individually to customers at a higher price ensuring maximum return for Insurers as well as fast turnaround as auction houses can take months to dispose of large goods lots.

Recovery

All salvage parcels are subject to inspection prior to any offers made. We always aim to offer a fair percentage on salvage goods, and request that you put us to the test, as our experience is that due to lower operational costs and overheads we outdo the competition.
On uplift, we draw up a condition report on the goods, we also reconcile the goods quantity to lists supplied verifying quantities, ensuring no leakage occurs and that Insurers only pay for stock that is salvaged.
A full report is sent to insurers on uplift with pictures.
When appointed on Goods in Transit losses, timing is of the essences as looting does occur. We as such endeavor to dispatch a team to the accident site where goods will be repacked and delivered as instructed (at a reasonable fee).
We can also uplift, warehouse and secure salvage until agreement has been reached on claims, this is particularly useful where salvage value may reduce is left exposed to the effects of a large loss, such as a fire or water damage. This again generates a better rate of recovery for Insurers.
Should we be unsuccessful in our bid on any stored goods, the goods can be delivered to any site and a nominal cost for transport and storage will be charged.
